It’s hard to forget the last New Year’s Eve celebration on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” where Mariah Carey was a featured musical performer. During her performance, there was a disastrous audio blunder, and Mariah was not apparently able to hear the track she was supposed to be lip-syncing to. As a result, the singer awkwardly danced around the stage, repeatedly making remarks about how her earpiece had malfunctioned. At one point, she even dropped the microphone to her side while the track was rolling, clearly revealing that her performance was lip-synced. With millions of people watching the celebration on TV, the unfortunate occurrence would not be easily forgotten. The internet was quick to poke fun at Mariah’s New Year’s mishap, asserting that she would never be able to live it down. However, this year, Mariah Carey has been asked back to “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Celebration”, so maybe she will have a chance for redemption after all.
